2013 leaver, Bo Seo's team won the World Schools debating championship in Istanbul, Turkey, about 2 hours ago - in a unanimous decision against Swaziland! They successfully proposed the motion that Turkey is better off outside the EU. Bo was voted best speaker at the tournament with Tyrone and Katie, his team mates also in the top 10. It is the third time in three tournaments that Bo has been in the top ten. A fantastic achievement. Bo is coming back to Barker coach our year 10 ISDA side before going on to Harvard. Australia has won the championship 8 times in the last 20 years, and been runners-up four times - see http://www.schoolsdebate.com/hallfame.asp It is a major competition will all the major English-speaking countries represented, as well as many non-English countries. |
